SPL Token Program Workshop

The workshop follows the instruction list, not a tour of headlines. Initialize mint, initialize account, mint to, transfer, approve, revoke, burn, freeze, thaw, close. Each instruction is tied to the account field it changes.

Who it is for

Readers who want the instruction names in their mouth before they sit a one-to-one desk. Pairs from the same club are welcome. The table holds eight, and we stop the list there so everyone can read one instruction aloud.

What you leave with

You can match an SPL Token instruction to the account it writes, and you can say which signature the instruction demands.

How the work proceeds

  1. Park Min-jae opens with the mint account and the two authorities, so the later instructions have somewhere to land.
  2. The group reads initialize account and the difference between a system-owned wallet and a token account owned by the token program.
  3. Transfer, approve, and revoke are read against owner and delegate. Burn is read against amount.
  4. Freeze and thaw are read against the freeze authority on the mint and the state field on the token account.
  5. Close account is last: the account must be empty of tokens, and the close authority signs. The lamports return to the destination named in the instruction.

What to bring

  • A pencil. We print the instruction names; you write the field notes.
  • If you have a transfer that failed, bring the two account addresses and nothing secret.
  • Arrive ten minutes early so the table can start together.
